Two by Two
Animal Rescue
began in 2002 when Sonya Smith began feeding strays in Old Town
Helena. She noticed another concerned citizen had been leaving food
for them too and placed a note in a bowl. The note
was found. They met and combined their efforts to rescue the many stray
dogs dodging traffic. Their work continues today on a grander
scale, striving to save the lives of unwanted, abused, and
abandoned animals. Two by Two's goal is to care for these rescues until
they find their forever homes, and educate the public about responsible
pet care. Our animals are fully vetted, spayed or neutered and
microchipped.
They are treated regardless of age, breed, or medical cost. Two by Two receives no state
funding or government assistance. We survive by the donations of caring
people, fund raising, and adoption fees. Since we do not have
a facility, most of our pets are kept
in private foster homes in Birmingham and the surrounding areas of
Helena, Pelham, Hoover, and Alabaster.
Meet some of our adoptable pets at PetSmart in Hoover every Saturday from Noon-4:00PM (Excluding major holidays).

Pictured is Redford and Molly, two of the original dogs saved. Redford now lives a wonderful life
in Maine where he is taken on picnics to the beach. Molly was his faithful companion. She is now a member of a loving family and is a pampered indoor pet.
