Chicken

In 2016, twenty plus prisoners at Rockville Women’s Prison in Indiana stood around one computer with tears streaming down their faces. The tears were streaming as they watched a video of Chicken playing and sleeping. The innocence of a puppy can touch the hearts of the hardened, desperate, and forgotten of our society. The woman organized a Chicken fan club. But to be honest, Sonya King had no idea the impact Chicken would have when she sent a 30 second video to an inmate serving life. Sonya says: “It is easy to think that rescuing a puppy from the Arby’s parking lot and finding her a home is the end result. God says not even hardly!” Everywhere Chicken goes she spreads joy and laughter. As Johnny, Sonya’s husband, leaves for work daily his admonition is always the same: “Make sure Chicken has a good day!”
